Wedding Season!
The month of June is always big for weddings. May was hot this
year too and I was asked to do a few designs for brides and their
entourage. A daunting task but one I loved when the pieces hit the
mark for the recipients!
My first bride called me just a month before her big day saying
she had seen my work at one of our local art shows and kept my card
in case she didn’t find what she wanted. Lucky for me she
didn’t and I got the job of bringing her vision to life! The
couple had a church wedding with a beach reception. Formal with a
Keysy twist. Her gown was a strapless fit bodice design and she has
a beautiful neckline so I had flawless canvas to work with. It had
to be a light design with movement and she wanted it to incorporate
pearls and silver. Here’s what we ended up with. A very delicate
set that accentuated her beauty, it didn’t overtake it! |

Another
bride found a necklace she loved on my web site. I didn’t
need to change the design at all, I only customized the length
for her. She was married in Arizona and the necklace fit her
wedding theme without changing a thing. I was thrilled to receive
her photo wearing it to share in this blog! |
The other pieces shown below were made specifically
for the bridal party of another wedding. All of them were to be special
gifts that the bride was instrumental in designing for her friends
and family. Each piece she chose was with each individual in mind.

This was my first year working with weddings and I have to say it
is very gratifying to be an important part of such a special day
in someone’s life.
There are many special occasions that jewelry can play an important
part in and custom jewelry takes it to the next level. It tells those
who receive it that someone cares enough to go that extra step, giving
a gift with only you in mind. |

Mother's Day and Graduation Gift Ideas
 |
For the graduate! |
It’s a busy gift giving time of year and NJ Design has some
ideas to help make your gifts special!
From Mother’s day to High school and College graduations these
bracelets ideas could be the answer for you!
Sometimes bracelets can be tough when you’re not sure about
wrist size. Here’s the solution! We’ve designed a charm
style bracelet with a larger link chain so it can be clasped at any
length. This one is made of abalone shell which picks up many different
colors to go with many outfits! Adding freshwater pearl and a 2008
sterling charm, it becomes a beautiful graduation gift. Like the
bracelet but for mom? Add a heart charm or a charm that represents
her hobby, family or favorite flower!
 |
For mom! |
We’ve all seen the mothers bracelets with kids names, how
about adding they’re birthstones in swarovski crystal? Maybe
some inspiration is in order. There are many words to choose from,
add one or many to touch her heart! With all of the choices of
sterling, gold, pearl, shell, semi precious stone, natural stone,
crystal and glass, the design ideas are endless!
Let NJ Design
help you design a gift to be cherished for years to come.

Here’s what NJ Design has been up to this month!
After a successful art show in January, a new client gave me an
opportunity to up date a few pieces that she had laying in her jewelry
box. She liked the stones in them but their designs lacked the personality
she wanted. We talked about what she was looking for and customized
her pieces into ones that are fresh, fun and fit her Keys lifestyle.
Now the pieces are worn instead of taking up space in a jewelry box!
Keep this in mind when you open your jewelry box! There is great
reward in taking unworn jewels and making them ones you’ll
wear and love!
At NJ Design, customizing is key. Our designs can be made to suit
you, or your old pieces can be made new again. From pearls, coral,
shells, sterling, swarovski crystal, natural and enhanced stones,
the options are endless! We take pride in our work and it shows.
There is another art show, Taste of Islamorada, May 3&4, that
I hope you’ll attend if you are in the area. It’s always
a fun show with many talented artists from all over. |

These were a long single strand of colored beads. We doubled the
strand, added a star fish, sterling spacers and a beatifut clasp to
match. The original piece lacked the brightness we wanted so with the
peridot crystal in the starfish, we could add lighter colors throughout
the entire strand. She loved it so much, we added a charm bracelet
and the earrings for a full ensemble! |
|
This was a single strand of pearls with the colored beads clumped
together every 3 inches. Once again the strand was doubled, spacers
and color mixed throughout. The client wanted it islandy so the palm
tree silver and fish drop fit the bill! |
